Hello, my name is Maxwell Hugh Ariss and I am currently earning my diploma in Graphic Design at Canadore College. In my spare time I work extremely hard at learning and improving the skills of my trade. Whether it be design or photography, I take my work very seriously, and leave no room for error.

I enjoy sitting back and letting my creative side run off on wild tangents... watching light burst from all directions, drowning away all doubt. It's from this confidence where I draw most of my inspiration. And thats the way I like it...

Design for me has never been strict or uniform, but more of an alternative lifestyle where I retreat.

A Bit About Me


Growing up I always had an eye for detail and aesthetics. At first I wanted to be an architect when I grew up... although that notion quickly passed as I developed a dislike for math. Design on its own however, it remained with me constantly, and I never found something that couldn't be customized or 'improved' in one way or another. I quickly developed a reputation for this among friends and family as my hobbies started to flourish.

As if it were inevitable, I developed a strong interest in computers and technology. I would learn how to do something... and then find other ways around it. It truly was (and is) addicting.

In high school, my sense of digital art was heightening and I was in the perfect environment for it. Surrounded by computer labs and like minded friends, I didn't know what to do with myself. At this point I began to work and experiment with a lot of different software, such as Adobe Photoshop. I was also tasked in my final year of high school on the yearbook committee, trying my hand at page layout. This gave me a great head start to college, along with everything else I worked at through high school.

Now I'm here, working away at Canadore College. It is a very scenic campus and an amazing learning environment. I do still do most of my learning on my own time, but that is just how it will always be. I don't plan on stopping or slowing down anytime soon. Design and Photography have become major aspects of my life and I plan on keeping it that way! Cheers !
